Preparing For Your Stay
Going to the hospital is not an everyday experience for most of us. If your treatment is scheduled and is not an emergency, TRH will call you a few days before your admission date. You will be asked a few questions. Facts will be double-checked, arrangements confirmed, and you will receive any necessary pre-admittance instructions. You will be told what time to arrive and what to expect once you get here. This is a great time for you to ask questions and have any concerns answered.
In the meantime, here are a few things that may be helpful to planning your hospital stay:
What to bring:
- Personal grooming items
- Eyeglasses & case
- Contacts & containers
- Dentures and containers
- A few dollars for small items you might need from the gift shop
What not to bring:
Please leave all jewelry and other valuables at home. Because of the nature of hospital care, it is impossible to secure rooms at all times. TRH cannot be responsible for loss of any items.
When you arrive at the hospital, be sure you have handy:
- Insurance card
- Social Security card
- Medicare card, if applicable
- Completed claim form, if required by your employer
- Any physician’s order, medical records, X-rays or other paperwork provided by your physician
- Advance directive (living will or healthcare power of attorney)
- Your co-pay, deductible or amount specified in pre-admission phone call
Consent for Treatment
During the admissions process, you will be given and asked to sign a Condition of Admission. This paper spells out what you are entering the hospital for. It gives TRH permission to treat you and permission to release medical information about your treatment to your insurance provider. Please be sure to read it carefully before you sign.
