Sylvan Valley OB/GYN Adds New Doctor in Brevard
BREVARD, N.C., Aug. 2, 2010 – Women in Transylvania County and surrounding communities will now have more access to complete women’s health services with the addition of a new fulltime physician at Sylvan Valley OB/GYN.
Transylvania Regional Hospital is pleased to welcome Brian Barrow, M.D., to Sylvan Valley OB/GYN, located on the hospital’s campus in Brevard.
Dr. Barrow earned his medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville and completed his residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa. He is trained in the latest minimally-invasive surgical techniques for the treatment of a variety of female conditions.
Dr. Barrow has also delivered more than 1,000 babies, including over 450 by C-section. He is board eligible in the practice of obstetrics and gynecology.
“Brian Barrow is an excellent addition to the medical staff at Transylvania Regional Hospital and to our practice at Sylvan Valley,” said Dr. Carmelo Hernandez, who has been a practicing OB/GYN in Brevard for nearly 10 years. “His training is state-of-the art and he will bring advanced treatments to improve the lives of women in our community. Dr. Barrow and I should work well together to provide expanded health care to women of all ages in this community.”
Besides providing prenatal care to expecting mothers and delivering babies, Dr. Barrow will provide a wide range of state-of-the-art surgical procedures including minimally invasive (laparoscopic) hysterectomies and treatment for bladder control. He will also provide comprehensive gynecology services and health maintenance for women of all ages, as well as treatments for menopause and PMS.
