Transylvania Regional Hospital Welcomes New Hospitalist Physician
BREVARD, N.C., July 6, 2010 – Transylvania Regional Hospital is pleased to welcome Hongjae C. Kim, M.D., as a fulltime hospitalist physician at the Brevard hospital.
A hospitalist is a specialty physician that is based in the hospital and focuses on the care of patients admitted to the hospital.
Dr. Kim is board certified in internal medicine and recently spent three years in private medical practice in Kentucky. Prior to this, he spent five years treating both inpatients and outpatients in South Korea and Guam.
Kim is a native of South Korea and completed medical school and an internship in Seoul. He completed his residency at the State University of New York, Health Science Center at Brooklyn.
Transylvania Regional Hospital launched its Hospitalist Program in August 2007 and now has 24/7 coverage for all adult inpatients by a hospitalist physician with support from two physician assistants.
Kim, his wife and their three young sons live in Hendersonville. When not practicing medicine, Kim enjoys carpentry and cycling.
